The purpose of this research report is threefold. Firstly, we illustrate an extensive reading project targeted at Hiroshima International University (HIU) students and examine to what extent the project may meet the current needs of English education in Japan. Secondly, we demonstrate how language teachers can work together as a team to incorporate extensive reading into both in-class and outside-of-class activities. In this regard, it is of special interest to note how we have concurrently built and sustained favorable relationships with learners and librarians through this project. Finally, although only interim data can be presented at this stage, we discuss the findings and implications of our project. |
