| 内容記述 | This study aims at clarifying a series of measures taken by Hiroshima prefectural government to ensure teachers' conformance to The Guide to Physical Education (hereinafter referred to as the guidelines) during the period extending from August 1947，when the guidelines were released，to September 1949，when The Course of Study: Elementary School Physical Education were released. Hiroshima Prefecture took the following actions to disseminate the principles introduced in the guidelines: 1. Issued the Handbook on Elementary School Physical Education in April 1949，which offered detailed descriptions of physical education activities recommended for elementary school children. 2. Ran teachers-training institutes at 14 locations in Hiroshima，where the handbook was introduced to the participants (May，1949). Due to the delay in the release of The Course of Study: Elementary School Physical Education，Hiroshima Prefecture had to take measures to ensure elementary school teachers' conformance to the guidelines. Thus，based on the conclusion reached at the teacher-training institute which was run by the Ministry of Education in 1948，physical education teachers in Hiroshima Prefecture developed and released the handbook in April 1949，which was to be used as a guide for planning physical education lessons. However，the contents of the handbook did not reflect the original development of the physical education imparted in Hiroshima，and although the handbook included some new physical activities to be taught，such as rhythmic activities，it did not suggest any specific lesson plans. Overall，the handbook merely provided descriptions on how to carry out certain types of physical education activities. However，teachers in Hiroshima welcomed the release of this handbook because it provided them with a general idea as to what should be taught in the physical education classes. In May，1949，teacher-training institutes, which introduced the handbook to the participating teachers,were run at 14 locations in Hiroshima. These institutes，which were run for physical education teachers in the elementary school，were some of the largest of this type in Hiroshima. In the institutes, participants were given demonstrations of some of the main physical education activities，including rhythmic activities. These institutes helped teachers understand what needs to be done in order to further improve the contents of physical education. | |||||||||
